The roots of the eXpd8 diary

When eXpd8 was initially launched many firms did not have Microsoft Outlook. For that reason eXpd8 included its own e-mail and calendar solutions.

Since then, Microsoft Outlook has continued to develop what has become an excellent calendar solution and so it makes sense that eXpd8 client management software becomes more closely aligned to the functionality available within Microsoft Outlook (in the same way as we use Microsoft Word as our word processing solution). Providing our clients with the simplest, most user friendly solution is our goal.

Microsoft Outlook’s calendar - key advantages over eXpd8 diary:

®      The facility to view multiple calendars in one screen

®      The facility to create one appointment and invite a number of attendees

®      The facility to determine the required advance notice of an upcoming appointment

®      The facility to colour code different types of appointments

®      The ability to connect from suitable hand held devices (such as Mobile 5 technology phone) through Microsoft Exchange to the users own Outlook profile retained on the server (including email, calendar and contacts).

eXpd8 Diary - key advantages over Microsoft Outlook include:

®      The facility to view appointments, phone calls, alarms and tasks (all demands on ones time) in one screen

®      The facility to link the diary appointment to the relevant eXpd8 client file.

Use Outlook or eXpd8?

We recommend that eXpd8 users move to Microsoft Outlook’s calendar as their diary solution.  It provides a number of additional features over the eXpd8 diary and has only the one short coming – the inability to view phone calls, alarms and tasks on the same screen as the appointments.

As some users are very hesitant to move to the Outlook Calendar we have redeveloped the eXpd8 Diary/Organiser.

NOTE: Whilst we have now included the functionality to ‘eXpd8 link’ an Outlook appointment to an eXpd8 file – we can not change the layout of Outlook to include other time demands such as phone calls.
