Each time a new matter is created in eXpd8 case management and a client is added to that matter, the user is prompted to pass the matter to accounts. This firstly over comes the need to manually add the data in two different systems, secondly ensures total corralation between the data in both and ensures that correlation is retained.
With every activity on the file the user is prompted to pass the information to accounts, this includes, items outside of eXpd8 such as emails that are being added to the file. In addition to the synopsis of the item being exported to accounts, the time spent on that activity is also passed.
When it comes to tracking your time, being able to see work done appear on the ledger card immediately is a very valuable tool. You may well decide not to bill it - but tracking it gives you the option.

"since installing expd8 accounts I have been recording all work done on files and using it to assist in preparing my bills. I find I can justify charging increased fees on the basis of the amount of time spent on files some of which went unnoticed and unrecorded previously. Time recording using expd8 accounts is so easy to use its “idiot proof” all you have to do is press yes to record your time and its all there at the end of the day. I find that even if I have quoted a fixed fee I can keep track on the time and easily see whether or not the suggested fixed fee is reasonable or not. I expect that in time we will all be billing our clients based on time spent on files and this system will mean we are ready for that option"
