Here are tips for finding a forgotten document

If you know the reference number of this document then it is easy to find the document in eXpd8.

Simply…

  • double click on your magnifying glass
  • tick “search reference number”
  • type the reference number into the search engine…
and your document will show up in the appropriate file.

If like most of us and you don’t keep a record of the reference number of the documents you can search for this document through reports.

  • Go into reports through the main screen… [on the left hand side you will see a list of reports]
  • go to the very last report which is time & billing
  • hit the plus sign beside it
  • you will then see “advanced time & billing”

To run this report and to find the document …

  • on the right hand side choose the fee earner you were working for that day, the author is yourself, if you know for sure what category the document was in then select the appropriate category (if you are unsure just leave it at all)
  • skip down to No. 7 “note created between) and choose your date i.e. if you know you did the document last week it will be between 1/09/07 to 7/09/07 or for a particular day 1/09/07 to 1/09/07
  • hit “view report results” and you will get a list of every activity you did between that time
  • Once you find your document, double click on it and it will take you  directly into that file.
