Understanding Fields

'Fields' is the customisable area of eXpd8.  Fields are relevent to the category they are created within. As in, Fields created in say Conveyance will be available to capture specfic data as required in any Conveyance file.  However those fields will not be visible in a Family Law file.  (Cateogry - refers to the virtual filing cabinets within eXpd8 which contain files of a similar type)

The Fields tab within any file provides access to the customisable area of that file.

The number of fields which can be added to a particular category are not limited, although only 8 will be visible per screen.  Where there are more than 8 fields, they will be spread over additional pages.

Firstly you must create a heading for the new fields to fall under. To do this click on the “Maintain” button. The following screen will appear. To insert the heading e.g. “Misc Info” simply type it in here and click on the corresponding “Add” button.  Notice that on the left of the screen the user creates headings, below those headings specific data fields are created on the right.

To create a field under this heading simply type in the “Field Name” e.g. PPS No. as seen opposite. Now allocate it a “Data Type” e.g. Text, Numeric or Date and give it a “Field Length” e.g. 25 characters long. Now click on the corresponding “Add” button.

That’s the first one done; now simply add any additional ones you require. When you have finished enter the fields you require click on the “Close” button. You will now see under the “Fields” button that you now have new fields were you can input data and hold it on the file.

Note: Any new additional fields that you set-up are only available in the category you set them up in. If you move a file from one category to another these fields / data will not be transferred.
